I Want Energy is a Tasmanian-owned solar, battery storage and EV charging provider based in Moonah, Hobart. The company helps homeowners and businesses across Tasmania reduce energy costs, improve energy independence and transition to smarter renewable energy solutions.
Operating in Tasmania since 2008, I Want Energy has completed more than 9,000 solar, battery and energy installations across the state. This long-standing local experience gives the team a strong understanding of Tasmanian conditions, including lower winter sun angles, variable weather patterns, coastal environments and the importance of designing systems that perform reliably year-round.
Unlike one-size-fits-all solar providers, I Want Energy focuses on tailored system design. Their process includes free, no-obligation on-site consultations where a solar expert assesses the property, reviews energy usage and recommends a system suited to the customer’s home, business, budget and future energy goals.
Customers can also visit the I Want Energy showroom at 62 Hopkins Street, Moonah, where they can compare solar panels, inverters, batteries and EV charging options in person before making a decision. This hands-on approach helps customers better understand their options and choose the right solution with confidence.
The company offers a carefully selected range of trusted solar and battery products, including AIKO, REC and Tindo solar panels, Fronius and Sungrow inverter technology, Tesla Powerwall 3, Sigenergy hybrid systems and FranklinWH battery storage. These options give Tasmanian households and businesses flexibility when choosing between solar-only systems, solar and battery packages, backup power, EV charging and future-ready energy upgrades.
I Want Energy is also supporting Tasmanians through current battery rebate and finance opportunities, helping eligible customers access battery storage with reduced upfront costs. Their team can assist with product selection, eligibility checks, rebate guidance, installation requirements and post-installation support.
Customer feedback regularly highlights the company’s clear communication, honest advice, professional installation team and strong after-sales service. For many homeowners, this local support is an important part of choosing an installer, particularly for solar batteries, hybrid systems and EV charging setups that may require long-term monitoring and service.
For Tasmanian homeowners and businesses looking for a local solar installer with proven experience, quality product partnerships and practical understanding of Tasmania’s energy conditions, I Want Energy is a strong option to consider. Their combination of local knowledge, showroom access, accredited installers and tailored renewable energy solutions makes them a trusted choice for solar panels, battery storage and EV charging in Hobart and across Tasmania.

Reviews
A great experience across the board. The entire team at I Want Energy are approachable, knowledgeable, and professional. My solar, battery, and EV charging system has been active for about a month and I’m eagerly awaiting my next electricity bill. I went with 20x 475W AIKO NeoStar 3S54 panels (all black model), paired with a Tesla Powerwall 3 Inverter/Battery. Really enjoyed the quoting process with Ian and Alex, learnt a lot about how the technology works and where the industry is heading. They use this clever software to help calculate the best system for your house and lifestyle. Quotes are delivered digitally and update live. Initially we explored multiple panel configurations as well as brands/models — loved seeing the data and prices update instantly on my end. The install was stress free. Rob and the other technicians arrived on time each day and explained what they were doing, even with the challenges our quirky 1970’s home threw at them (steep roof and cable routing). The Tesla ‘Charge On Solar’ feature has been working a treat and suits our lifestyle. It has completely eliminated the cost of running our family car (Model Y). Day to day I enjoy monitoring the Tesla and 1st Energy iOS apps to see how the system is performing. It’s addictive!
Such a efficient, easy & great process, as always, dealing with I want Energy. Any followup is always fully explained & with 16 KW of Panels, Sigenergy Inverter & 2 batteries… we are happy as in our rural setting & powering away. Many thanks everyone
A very smooth and easy process. From the consultation to completion I felt very informed. During the quote I was shown all my options and explained pros/cons micro inverter vs. not, type of panel, panel manufacturer, warranty, tariffs… everything! All communication is digital from quote to install and documents were super easy to digitally sign and return. The installers were prompt on install day and kept me in the loop with what the plan was. Simple requests such as where I wanted to install everything (even the height of the battery on the wall) was acknowledged. I had 30 panels & a battery installed and it took 3 days from start to finish. TAS networks confirmed connected the day after install and Aurora had updated the app the day after that. Within a week I had a fully functional solar system. 👌 The apps works great, everything was connected to my wifi for me. I absolutely cannot fault this company and their people and would recommend them to anyone looking for solar or a battery install.
